I'm not sure why this is called BACK to the Feature. It's not like if albums with 10+ guest appearances had gone anywhere. The majority of hip hop albums are still loaded with features but you can't complain with the cast Wale and 9th Wonder have brought together for this project.
Guests include Royce Da 5'9", Talib Kweli, Skyzoo, Joe Budden, Kenn Starr, Black Thought and Joell Ortiz.
House Shoes gives his side of the story on the saga a lot of people were following on Twitter earlier this week.
I'm not going to post the transcript of the exchanges Charles Hamilton had with House Shoes and Hex Murda just for those who didn't follow the action as it happened on Twitter. But if you're curious, visit their profiles and keep hitting "more" until you hit updates from this Monday.
There's no need for me to further explain the situation, as Shoes gives a pretty detailed account of what happened in the video above.
Below is a very recent Slaughterhouse studio session, in which everyone discusses Charles Hamilton's buffoonery.
In the video, Royce talks about the mutual respect he has with Hex, and says that he could probably end the tension with a simple phone call.
He explains that Hamilton is just a young, ignorant kid and wishes him no harm. But, he adds, there's little he can do if Hamilton keeps talking reckless to Hex. My guess is that he's clueless as to who Hex Murda is.
It seems like every time Charles Hamilton's name gets mentioned, it never has anything to do with his music. The first time I ever paid attention to him was when he freestyled some girl and ended up getting punched in the face.
To me, this Hamilton character is a joke. It's in his best interest to stick to making his disposable music all alone and to take Detroit a little more seriously from now on.
I stopped blogging for a while but I'm back now, and don't expect me to leave anytime soon.
MidnightFix is the place for all you fiends to get your dose of unbiased commentary, insightful album reviews and dope music, delivered fresh to your computer monitors as often as I can, or whenever I feel like it. I'll be posting all the new shit that deserves to be heard as well as bringing classics back to life.
There's no shortage of hip hop blogs out there and I'm aware that it will be difficult to earn and retain my readers' attention. But I'll try my best to make mine shine through the rest with something special.
My main objective with this blog is to provide my readers with what they should be hearing. There is so much new material available every day that it makes it impossible for listeners to get through everything. MidnightFix will sort it all out for you and make sure that worthy artists' material makes its way to your ears.
Also be on the lookout for my upcoming weekly podcast. It'll be sort of like a radio show, with me talking and playing the newest and dopest hip hop joints. I do all the work digging in the mp3's and all you gotta do is come here and enjoy. I'm nice like that.
You know the drill -- put MidnightFix in your favorites, check for updates often, and spread the word to your fellow hip hop heads!
You didn't think I'd leave you empty-handed on the first post, did you?
Diamond District is Oddisee's new group with YU and XO. If you still haven't checked them out, now would be the time to ask the desk clerk for a wake up call.
In The Ruff was released for free through Diamond District's website and has moved over 11.3k downloads since April. Oddisee is as sharp as ever on the beats, particularly on the title track. But don't think it's all Oddisee on here -- YU and XO hold their own, and all three emcees brings that DMV heat. You can expect a physical release in the near future but in the meantime, enjoy the free download.
